Decca  LXT 5144  1956 pressing/matrices: ARL2896 -2A / ARL2895 -3A.  Recorded: 21-23 September 1955 - West Hampstead Studios.  Wet-Cleaned 'to perfection' but Decca must've wiped the stampers with a filthy rag: so mucho editing (again). '1.3' de-click +<1.4dB treble. The covers for LXT2963 (Faure/Francaix) + LM4541 (Scarlatti: NO CD) added below (not transferring those...)    NOT ON CD    Sleeve-note >>>

    1. Heard it more than once! Some slight patches of 'fizzle' (impossible to eradicate unless the sound was zapped) despite all the editing-time.
Refined/elegant playing - good sound (got EMG's highest rating). Had intended transferring almost 15 years back.
Wonder why not released on CD? Same situation as LXT5020 (Handel Op.3/Boyd Neel) which I transferred 2008/9..

  2. Delightful music, elegantly played and sounds perfectly fine to me. Your "mucho editing" was not in vain.

    Thank you for this.

    1. Should re-hear Backhaus/Haydn (34,48,52,Fantasia) - recall as excellent (Eclipse reissue).
Not exactly over-burdened with Haydn Sonatas (Brendel/McCabe)...
Have some decidedly nice Haydn's on (new) Columbia 33CX's: Hungarian St.Qt/Symphonies: Markevitch/Caracciolo - the latter possibly not on CD?
