Fabulous addition, Tin Ear! Thank you! You know I'm a huge fan of both Kogan and Silvestri, and the sound of the transfer is wonderful. I've never owned this CFP but will now be on the lookout for it!

I also love reading that review. The reviewer hit upon an observation that I've also noticed with the recorded Kogan/Silvestri collaborations. Kogan is typically put front and center with wonderful clarity and fidelity, but the orchestra is often not given the same treatment (like on the Kogan Tchaikovsky VC).

Also, interesting that UK Columbia only released the mono version at the time, while French Columbia released it as a SAXF. Perhaps not to compete with the Oistrakh SAX that had the Mozart VC3 paired with the Prokofiev VC2? The Oistrakh SAX was never issued as a SAXF in France.

From the sound of your transfer, this Kogan performance of the Mozart sounds more engaging than the Oistrakh!

    1. Surely you want to get the SAXF?! Interesting about the Oistrakh in France (I've only the 33CX mono: issued several years prior to the SAX).
There are noticeable session differences in sound-balance (ie Mozart mvt.3 is brighter/closer; typically Salle Wagram gives a resonant/undefined setting).
Have the 3 other Paris Kogan CFP's; I suppose those are of interest - though am about to transfer the 1965 RCA Victrola Paris/Rignold Delibes - never on CD.
I thought Kogan was a bit uncertain in the Mendelssohn - quite a few (minor) tape edits - one noticeable that I removed.
Resisted the temptation to 'brighten' this - which I would've done if I'd utilised Izotope - as the pressing was so good (but many 'horns' were apparent)- but there is a somewhat noisy tape background.

    1. Glad you like it (I think you need to be logged-in to Google account to avoid being 'anon'!).
The old Shure V15/III still delivers-the-goods after 50 years (found an interesting site:
      https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/introducing-the-phono-cartridge-measurement-library.46108
which recent showed how good it is: fortunately I have sufficient original (*new) stylii -but originally used it for the 78 transfers).
There's also the Paris Ferras 4/5 (stupidly I didn't pick-up the CFP when finding a new Beethoven Kogan CFP @ Oxfam (99p) as have the French 'Trianon' reissue. Had been intending uploading the Ferras/Schuricht Brahms VC; but perhaps the performance was accurately reviewed by EMG.
(just remembered to link above his 1954 Mozart VC3/7 stereo)

    1. As it appears to be 'a hit' I'll give the Beethoven VC a spin...(was intending the Campoli/Pritchard)..

Greetings! I have downloaded and enjoyed your superbly musical and honest transfers for a couple of years now. I'm really sorry that I have not expressed my appreciation and admiration for your efforts before. I hope you continue to offer your treasures to us all!

  8. 3 more 16+24bit stereo LP files will exhaust my Mega storage (have a spare 15 [or 20GB] GB a/c).
The Swathe of 'no comments' (but very sustantial d/l's) posts isn't encouraging; but anyway it's best to restrict uploads to under 20 in a year - less stressful.
The transfers are nothing special - except they're not degraded!
