    1. Sod...TWO problems - Mega no longer allows access using Vista OS (so had to use another Ubuntu machine) - also have to copy the 'Mega Download' otherwise the link is in full..
Now corrected - as forgot to 'apply' new links for these. Maybe upload auto-declicked if required..but wanted to provide completely accurate files..

    1. Well..it's bonkers to hand-edit this vintage of Decca 'Geon' - but, on another blog, where decent equipment is used; it is clobbered by software intervention - totally horrid!

    1. Judging by the page-Views (200 in 24 hours) seems 'popular'....
Not sure I'd transfer my new 1952 copy of Kleiber's Beethoven 7 (have 2x ACL) but may do the 1 (Schuricht) 4 (Krips) as have spare LXT's (Bohm's 8 - c/w Schuricht - is not good compared to the ACL).

    1. I guess as long as I get Some Sort of Response - though editing this vintage won't lead to many new transfers - unless you're in the market for Muzak..

  5. What document is the review quote taken from?

    1. Usually include these reviews (the Jan 1951 for Kleiber's Beethoven 7 + the Galliera 78's is more detailed re: performances) - from the 'EMG Monthly Letter' - have a complete run (minus July '67) from the first Jan '47 new format to the end of EMG in 1980 - then the 1980-86 version published by the Beecham Trust. Much more condensed than 'Gramophone' reviews of that period - with similar sections - but more attention to recorded quality...as they were also sellers of 'Hi-Fi' from the early days.
Could copy a few issues - the early LP commentary is interesting - also re: stereo, in 1958.

Hello, I just found your site and look forward to exploring it. Based on your comments, it sounds like you don't care much for the restoration work done by the other Pristine? Just curious! Thanks for making all this music available to everyone.

    1. Tends to be ancient-history as the majority there now appear to be radio-based.
I think Restoration/ReMastering is mostly a load of Bull - all you really require is an accurate copy - without adding 'ambience' to mono and Equalisation Fakery.
CD could also be the source of '24bit Premium downloads' - unless there was obvious treble extension above 22kHz..

Maybe add a slightly de-clicked version of this (24/48) as there wouldn't be much 'damage' to the signal - but there is a slight 'smoothing' even at the lowest settings.

    1. Well..I've never claimed that!
Have a substantial chunk of the pre-1958 LXT catalogue - though when they're 'pre-RIAA' transferred (<late-55) there can be many duds - no consistency year-to-year - but some are very good with EQ adjustment.
Thought this may be interesting to compare with CD variants. Have also uploaded a (minimally) software 'declicked' version from the retained edited 32bit WAV - so another comparison there!
