Good job. Very nice sound. Good performance.
ReplyDeleteHand-editing this certainly constituted 'A Job'.
DeleteI have two Dvorak SQ cycles and I don't quite like the way either of them is played, so it's very nice to hear this superior performance. Many thanks for the flawless transfer...
ReplyDeleteEMG (not surprisingly) put-the-boot-in (Vlach op.106), but saw that as an OOP 2004 Supraphon (the Stereo LP has a trace of hum not on the mono).
DeleteCan't really recall individual performances: only bought the 4LP box mentioned (included later Prague Qt -3sides: the others are Vlach/Dvorak/Smetana Qt) otherwise only have isolated issues -none OOC).
Still retain the Audacity files - and later noticed (via Foobar....) I'd missed a few really tiny fast transient ticks - but Izotope would've smoothed the sound to get down to that level. Amazingly good pressing - and no 'funny' transfer noise-effects, and the sound/balance is nice. Thought the 2nd mvt lost a bit of impetus (?).

ReplyDeleteHello Dirk, Sometimes feel like Arthur Dent in HHGTTG - "I've gone off progress", and do wonder if the 'net is actually 'worth it'.
DeleteHave so many 1000's of LP's never heard (or properly so: recently was thrilled by Ormandy's 1957 Prokofiev Sym.4 on CBS Classics) that editing these, mostly fallible, earlier pressings becomes A Chore (the recent RVW Sym.4 an exception), so, as many are/were never otherwise available, did think it reasonable to get them to 'pay their way', especially as additionally needed some sort of decent RCM for quicker/less intense editing...but do keep getting the urge to just delete the Blogs!
Thank you very much for sharing! Greetings from Argentina!
