Thanks very much! Great scans too.
ReplyDeleteSupraphon's, like this one, got re-introduced around early 1964 @ 17/6d (previously full-price).
DeleteRobert ('the bouncing Czech') Maxwell's Pergamon seemingly distributed them.
A few years later Paul Hamlyn's "Records for Pleasure" - and were mastered/pressed by EMI - rarely seen.. A few of those matrices got onto 'Music for Pleasure':- I've only Ancerl's Prokofiev R&J...Dvorak VC (Suk) Shostakovich Sym.5. The EMI transfers are beefier - but the Czech Shostakovich 5 (1972 copy) sounds good (had intended uploading that): unfortunately Supraphon transfers latter '70's typically sound less good: and 1980's vinyl looks grey and undynamic - andsounds it!
Will try a few new transfers when it's a bit warmer.
Muchas gracias por esta magnífica obra, saludos.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteDoubt there will be Much more - let alone a Lot more!
DeleteTotally fed-up with these Blogs...
Could you please upload Sergei Prokofiev's Scythian Suite by Erich Leinsdorf and the Boston Symphony Orchestra as it was released on RCA LSC 2934 Stereo?
ReplyDeleteInexplicably ,Scythian Suite has never been released on CD or on any digital file - it was omitted from the "Leinsdorf conducts Prokofiev" 6CD boxset and it was even left out of the 2 huge RCA Living Stereo Giga CD boxsets !
It's a shame because this rendition of the Scythian Suite is by far the BEST ever recorded -- A truly Masterpiece and a Reference Recording !
Had intended uploading that over a Decade back - sleeve scans added here.
DeleteOriginally bought in 1971 after seeing a recommendation (in Records & Recordings) by John McCabe.
Very Loud!
Have 2 new SB copies - Decca mastered (the Sinfonia Concertante -Samuel Mayes also used to be not on CD but mine is the Mono RB -though Dynagroove US matrices. Also, presumably, the Stravinsky/Bartok (Silverstein) VC has now appeared - have the Decca SB.
